NBU to put into circulation a commemorative coin in honor of Symon Petliura

The National Bank of Ukraine will put into circulation a commemorative coin with a face value of 2 hryvnias dedicated to the 100th anniversary of the day of memory of Symon Petliura. He was one of the key figures of the Ukrainian national liberation movement and the head of the UNR Directory. This was reported by the NBU press service.

“To honor the memory of the outstanding statesman, military and political figure, head of the Directory of the Ukrainian People’s Republic and Chief Ataman of the UNR troops, Symon Petliura, we are putting into circulation a new commemorative coin “100th Anniversary of Symon Petliura’s Memorial Day”, – the message says.

The obverse of the coin depicts a stylized portrait of Symon Petliura on a mirror background. Next to it is an element of the patch from his jacket in the form of a branch.

On the reverse An artistic composition with the symbols of the Ukrainian People’s Republic is presented. In the center is a trident – a reproduction of the sleeve badge of the 1919 model. The inscription “100th Anniversary of Symon Petliura’s Remembrance Day” is engraved around the circumference, which complements the wreath of the diploma with the inscription “UNR”.

The author of the artistic design of the coin was Alisa Ivanova, the sculptor was Volodymyr Atamanchuk. The circulation will be up to 50 thousand copies in souvenir packaging.

The commemorative coin will be available for purchase from May 26 in the online store of numismatic products of the NBU, as well as from distributing banks.

Earlier, on the 40th anniversary of the Chernobyl disaster, the National Bank issued a commemorative coin “To Those Who Saved the World”, dedicated to the liquidators of the Chernobyl accident.
