‘No appetite”: Johnson makes loud statement on aid to Ukraine
The Speaker of the US House of Representatives, Mike Johnson, expressed his position on further aid to Ukraine, stating that he does not want to continue funding this support. He announced this in an interview for Punchbowl News, noting that he hopes that there will be no need for further funds for Ukraine.
“I have no appetite for further funding of Ukraine, and I hope that it will not be necessary. If Donald Trump wins, I believe that he will really be able to put an end to this conflict. I really do.”Johnson said.
Johnson also expressed confidence that Trump, if he becomes president, will be able to call Vladimir Putin and convince him to end the war. According to the speaker, the world is tired of war, and all sides are trying to find ways to end it.
However, Johnson warned that if Kamala Harris wins the presidential election, the war will continue. He called this scenario “desperate and dangerous”.
It is worth noting that earlier Johnson was involved in a scandal due to his delay in submitting for consideration the draft law on additional financing for Ukraine in the amount of 60 billion dollars. At that time, the USA had already exhausted the resources provided for military assistance to Ukraine, due to which the supply of weapons was stopped.
This delay created serious problems for the Armed Forces of Ukraine, in particular the shortage of artillery ammunition, which negatively affected the defense capability of the Ukrainian army. As a result, the Russian troops managed to occupy Avdiivka, which was a heavy blow for the Ukrainian defenders.
