Nvidia and Foxconn plan to use humanoid robots in AI server factory
Foxconn and Nvidia are in talks to introduce humanoid robots at Foxconn’s new factory in Houston, which will make Nvidia’s artificial intelligence servers. About this informs Reuters.
This will be the first time humanoid robots have been used to assemble Nvidia products, and the first Foxconn factory where such robots will work on the assembly line for AI servers. The implementation of the technology is expected to be completed within a few months and will be an important step in the application of humanoids in production.
Foxconn is currently working with Nvidia on its own robot models and testing devices from the Chinese company UBTech. However, it is not yet known which models are planned to be used at the Houston plant, what they will look like and how many will be involved at the start.
The companies intend to start using robots already in the first quarter of next year — simultaneously with the start of production of Nvidia GB300 servers. While specific functions of the robots have yet to be specified, according to Foxconn’s presentation in May, they are trained to perform tasks such as placing objects, laying cables and assembling components.
The Houston plant is ideal for such an initiative because it is new and has more free space than the company’s other production sites. For Nvidia, this project is a logical continuation of technology development, because the company already provides robot developers with its own platform for creating humanoid systems.
