Ombudsman Dmytro Lubinets appealed to international organizations regarding the alleged execution of a Ukrainian captured by the Russian Federation

A photo of a Ukrainian prisoner of war with severed limbs and head was shared on social media. In this regard, the Verkhovna Rada Commissioner for Human Rights, Dmytro Lubynets, informed that he had appealed to the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) and the UN due to the alleged brutal killing of a Ukrainian prisoner of war by the Russians. That’s what he’s about reported Telegram.

“Given the terrible footage, I urgently appealed:

To the ICRC and the UN, to record yet another violation of human rights by a terrorist country.
To Ukrainian law enforcement agencies to verify the identity of the murdered prisoner and the fact of this crime.

Let me remind you that prisoners of war are in the hands of an enemy state, and it is responsible for their treatment! That is, the responsibility for killing and maiming lies not only with Russian soldiers, but with the Russian Federation itself.” Lubinets said.

In addition, Lubinets noted that the current war is a hybrid one.

“By spreading similar photos and videos on social networks and taking such actions, Russia wants to intimidate Ukrainians: both civilians and military. As if you are looking at what we are capable of. But looking at such footage, one thing is clear: it is impossible to forget and forgive! crimes must be punished!” – emphasized the ombudsman.
