In Khmelnytskyi region, embezzlement of public funds was exposed when buying a house for an IDP family
Law enforcement officers of the Khmelnytskyi region have uncovered a scheme for embezzling public funds allocated for the purchase of a house for a large family of internally displaced persons.
According to information from the Prosecutor General’s Office, the deputy mayor and the head of the labor and social protection department of one of the city councils of the Khmelnytskyi district are suspects in the case.
In June 2025, UAH 6.2 million was allocated for the purchase of a family-type house for an IDP family. The officials chose the object and ordered an appraisal that did not correspond to the market price, effectively adjusting the amount for the subvention.
The purchase and sale agreement was concluded in August 2025. Expert examinations confirmed that the price was overstated by 2.6 million UAH.
Prosecutors informed both suspects of the suspicion, chose preventive measures and removed them from their positions.
