OpenAI is developing its own social network based on AI technologies

OpenAI is working on its own social network, which should reduce the problem of bots on online platforms. The project is in the early stages of development, and a small team of less than ten people is working on it.

One possible element of the platform could be biometric verification of users. The developers are considering confirming the identity via Face ID on the iPhone or using Orb, a device from the World project associated with Sam Altman. Orb scans the iris of the eye and is used to confirm that the account belongs to a real person.

According to Forbes, the future social network may also receive tools for creating content using artificial intelligence, in particular, video generation functions. This approach may become part of OpenAI’s broader strategy for developing services around ChatGPT and other AI products.

The project does not yet have a public launch date. Its further development will depend on technical solutions, privacy issues and users’ willingness to undergo biometric verification.
