OpenAI reaches $10 billion in annual recurring revenue

OpenAI has reported that its annual recurring revenue (ARR), which is the projected amount of revenue the company will receive in a year from subscription services, is currently estimated at $10 billion. Such growth is associated with the active development of ChatGPT, informs CNBC.

This amount includes revenues from consumer products, ChatGPT-based business solutions and API access. At the same time, the representative of the company clarified that this estimate does not take into account license payments from Microsoft and large one-time agreements.

Despite these ambitious forecasts, OpenAI’s actual revenue in 2024 was approximately $5.5 billion, while the company suffered a loss of around $5 billion. Despite this, the company’s overall valuation far exceeds its current revenues. OpenAI plans to reach $125 billion in annual revenue by 2029.

Earlier this year, the company also closed a $40 billion investment round, the largest such deal in history. However, the funds will be received in stages, as one of the conditions is the transition to a fully commercial model. Now it is not known how this will be affected by the company’s decision to abandon such plans.

OpenAI reported that 500 million people use its products every week. In addition, the company recently announced that the number of its paid business users has increased to three million — a million more than it recorded in February.
