EU and the world

Orbán called on Hungarians to vote against Ukraine’s accession to the EU

Prime Minister of Hungary Viktor Orban urged citizens of their country to vote against the accession of Ukraine to the European Union.

According to Orban, Ukraine’s accession to the EU allegedly jeopardizes all the gains of Hungary. He did not specify which achievements he had in mind.

“Ukraine’s accession to the EU jeopardizes all our achievements. We will not let them humiliate Hungarians! Vote!”, – emphasized the Prime Minister of Hungary.

In this way, he advertised the “consultations” that are currently ongoing in the country.

We will remind that Hungary is blocking the start of negotiations regarding Ukraine’s accession to the European Union. Orbán has repeatedly spoken out against EU expansion through Ukraine’s accession. In addition, the Hungarian Prime Minister initiated a so-called national survey to find out what position the citizens have on this issue. On April 22, Orban publicly took part in the vote and openly opposed Ukraine’s membership in the EU.

At the same time, on April 14, the opposition party “Tisa” published the results of its own sociological research. According to his data, 58% of Hungarians support Ukraine joining the European Union.
