Orphans are forcibly evacuated from the Kharkiv region

Orphans and children deprived of parental care will be forcibly evacuated from the Bogodukhiv, Izyum, Kupyan and Chuguiv districts of Kharkiv region. The corresponding decision was made by the Coordination Headquarters on mandatory evacuation of the population under martial law.

A total of 123 children from 36 settlements of the Kharkiv region are planned to be transported to safe places. Children will be evacuated together with guardians or other legal representatives.

The children’s first destination will be Kharkiv. Later, they will be transported to safer places in the Volyn region, Iryna Vereshchuk, Minister of Reintegration of the Temporarily Occupied Territories of Ukraine, said.

The coordination headquarters plans to evacuate orphans from Kharkiv region within 60 days. UNICEF and the charitable organization “SOS Children’s Town” will participate in the relocation of minors from dangerous areas.

More than 11,000 people were evacuated from the Chuguyiv, Kharkiv, and Bogoduhiv districts of the region since the beginning of the repeated offensive of Russian troops on the Kharkiv region.

Earlier, the head of the Kharkiv OVA informed about the transportation of children from dangerous communities Oleg Sinegubov.

“According to updated data, 123 children from 77 families are subject to compulsory evacuation. As of May 21, 66 children have already been evacuated. Work in this direction continues,” the head of the regional administration said.

We will remind, on March 7, 2023, the government adopted the Mechanism for the forced evacuation of children from active combat zones. According to the report of the Ministry of Reintegration of Temporarily Occupied Territories, during 2023 from dangerous areas of the country managed to evacuate 2,940 children.
