Passenger train derails in Germany: there are dead and injured

In Germany, a passenger train derailed in the federal state of Baden-Württemberg. As a result of the incident, at least three people died, dozens more were injured. About this informs PICTURE.

According to the police, two wagons of the Deutsche Bahn regional express derailed. The train, in which there were about 100 passengers, was heading from Sigmaringen to Ulm. In addition to the three dead, at least 34 people were injured. Part of the warehouse overturned as a result of the accident. Police, firefighters and rescue services are on the scene. The causes of the accident are being investigated. According to preliminary estimates, the incident could have occurred due to a strong thunderstorm.

“There were heavy rains here, so it cannot be ruled out that the heavy rain and the resulting landslide were also the cause.” – explained the Minister of Internal Affairs of Baden-Württemberg, Thomas Strobl.

German Chancellor Friedrich Merz said that he is in constant contact with the leadership of the ministries of the interior and transport and called for all necessary assistance to the rescue services.

We will remind that on June 3, 2022, a passenger train accident also happened in Germany – the incident happened in the area of the Loisachauen industrial park in the Alps. As a result of the accident, several wagons overturned, some of them fell on the embankment. Then four people died, another 60 passengers were injured. At the time of the tragedy, there were a large number of students on the train, as the incident occurred during the holidays.
