Peace talks on Ukraine at ministerial level canceled in London
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Great Britain announced that the peace talks on the war in Ukraine at the ministerial level, which were to be chaired by the head of the British Foreign Office, David Lammy, scheduled for April 23 in London, will not take place. About this informs The Guardian.
“Today’s meeting of foreign ministers regarding the peace talks in Ukraine is being postponed. The talks at the official level will continue, but they will be closed to the media.” – says the statement of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Britain.
The foreign ministers of the USA, Great Britain, France, Germany and Ukraine were to take part in the negotiations. The day before, it became known that US Secretary of State Marco Rubio will not be able to attend. Special Envoy for Ukraine Keith Kellogg is expected to arrive instead.
Later, information appeared in the mass media that the heads of diplomatic departments of France and Germany will also cancel their visits to London. At the same time, the Sky News channel reported that the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine, Andriy Sybiga, will arrive in London and have a bilateral meeting with the head of the British Foreign Ministry, David Lammy.
The decrease in the level of diplomatic participation in the negotiations is taking place against the background of increasing pressure from the US President Donald Trump and his team on Kyiv and Moscow to achieve a ceasefire.
