The Department of Defense of the United States of America congratulated citizens on Flag Day by publishing an image showing two small flags similar to the Russian tricolor next to the American flag. Information about it appeared on the official pages of the US Ministry of Defense in social networks.
Along with the text part of the greeting, a picture was published where red, blue and white stripes resembling the flag of Russia can be seen next to the American flag.
“Happy Flag Day! Let’s honor the symbol of our state – the stars and stripes that unite each of us. As we raise this flag, let us remember the ideals it represents and celebrate the freedom, courage and indomitability that make our country great.”, – said in a statement published by the Pentagon.
In the comments on social networks, people assumed that the appearance of the Russian tricolor could be the result of an accidental mistake by the designers.
Despite numerous comments from users calling attention to the error, the image continued to remain on the social networks of the US Department of Defense more than ten hours after publication and was not removed.
As a reminder, Flag Day in the USA is traditionally celebrated on June 14. On the same day, the anniversary of the creation of the American army is celebrated, as well as the birthday of the current president, Donald Trump.
