Office of the Prosecutor General reported on suspicion of treason and violation of the equality of citizens, depending on their racial, national, regional affiliation or religious beliefs, to the People’s Deputy of Ukraine of the VII-IX convocations Vadym Novinskyi.
“Under the procedural guidance of the Prosecutor General’s Office, the People’s Deputy of Ukraine of the VII-IX convocations was notified of suspicion of treason and violation of the equality of citizens depending on their racial, national, regional affiliation and religious beliefs (Part 1 of Article 111, Part 2 of Article 161 Criminal Code of Ukraine)”, – says the message.
According to the investigation, since the beginning of Russia’s armed aggression against Ukraine in 2014, Novinsky actively promoted Russian narratives through interviews, public speeches, posts on his website and in social networks. His activities were aimed at forming anti-government and pro-Russian attitudes in Ukrainian society, as well as justifying Russian aggression.
Novinsky maintained close contact with the Patriarch of the Russian Orthodox Church Kirill (Gundyaev), followed his instructions and actually acted as a curator for the Russian Orthodox Church in Ukraine. He represented the interests of the Russian religious organization on the territory of Ukraine. The deputy systematically made public statements that contained elements of religious intolerance and enmity, supporting the foreign policy of the aggressor country.
After the start of Russia’s full-scale invasion of Ukraine, Novinsky resigned and went abroad, where he continues information activities directed against the sovereignty of Ukraine, its state and information security, and also promotes subversive activities in favor of the Russian Federation.
