“We have completed the construction of a full-scale electronic barrier, which also covers the river sections of the border”, — noted Tomas Semonyak.
This barrier became an element of a wider system of protection of the external borders of the European Union. According to the minister, Poland will continue to use both physical and technical means of control.
“All forms of border control will be expanded”, – added Semoniak, referring, in particular, to temporary control at the borders with Germany and Lithuania.
The head of the Ministry of the Interior of Poland reported that the state has allocated 2.6 million zlotys for the protection of the border with Belarus, and 11 thousand military personnel have been involved in the protection.
“I want to show this to the German interior minister, feeling that the fight against illegal migration should take place at the EU’s external borders, right here.”, he explained.
Semonyak emphasized that thanks to the active participation of the military and the use of the latest technologies, the effectiveness in combating illegal border crossings reached 97-98%.
