Poland plans to speed up the process of Ukraine’s accession to the EU

Poland, presiding over the Council of the European Union, seeks to speed up the process of Ukraine’s integration into the EU. About this stated temporary chargé d’affaires of Poland in Ukraine Piotr Lukasiewicz.

Lukasevych emphasized that Ukraine’s membership in a united Europe will ensure the country’s security and open up new prospects.

“Our current presidency is somewhat different from what it was 10 years ago. Because now the country presiding over the EU Council does not influence the decisions, but is engaged in co-organization and helps to understand the procedures that the candidate country must go through. Because every country that aspires to the EU, of course it has to go through certain procedures and fulfill certain requirements in order to move forward”, the diplomat explained.

He emphasized that Poland can influence the priority consideration of issues important for Kyiv and Warsaw, as well as the deadlines for the procedures necessary for Ukraine’s accession to the EU.

“Our task now will be a constant reminder that this is very important, that all this must be resolved as soon as possible. Poland will do everything possible in this direction. And will do everything possible to speed up the accession procedures for Ukraine.”, Lukasevich emphasized.
