Biden’s son was found guilty in the case of possession of weapons: what is known
A Delaware jury found Hunter Biden, the son of US President Joe Biden, guilty of gun possession.
About this reported BBC.
According to the investigation, Hunter Biden purchased a Colt Cobra revolver in 2018 for 10 months and owned it for 11 days. Prosecutors allege that during the purchase, Biden’s son lied about not taking any drugs, even though he himself was struggling with crack addiction.
A jury found him guilty on all three counts
- He provided false information when filling out a federal form when he purchased the gun, swearing that he was not addicted to illegal drugs and did not use illegal drugs;
- He falsely told the same thing to the gun dealer in Wilmington where he bought the revolver;
- Gunter was also found to be illegally possessing a firearm while under or under the influence of drugs, which is a federal crime.
54-year-old Hunter Biden himself pleaded not guilty to the charges. In the future, the court must set a date for the official sentencing. Usually the term is 120 days. It will be no later than a month before the US presidential election on November 5.
He faces up to 25 years in prison on the above-mentioned charges. Although first-time offenders don’t get anywhere near the maximum, it’s unclear whether a judge will sentence him to prison time.
After court, Hunter Biden exited the building holding hands with First Lady Jill Biden and his wife, Melissa. They did not communicate with journalists, got into waiting SUVs and drove away.
