Poland restricts flights on the border with Ukraine and Belarus for three months
From March 10 to June 9, 2026, Poland will introduce air traffic restrictions in the eastern regions of the country bordering Ukraine and Belarus. This was reported by the Polish Air Navigation Agency.
The EP R130 zone covers the airspace from ground level to an altitude of about 3 km. Passenger aircraft operating at high altitudes will continue to fly without changes, while small aircraft and drones are subject to strict regulations.
At night (from dusk to dawn), there is a complete ban on flights, with the exception of special flights and coordinated flights of special services. During the day (from dawn to sunset), flights are permitted only if a flight plan is submitted, a working transponder is available, and constant radio communication with air traffic control authorities is maintained.
The Polish agency notes that the restrictions were introduced to ensure state security. Flights under the signals ALPHA SCRAMBLE (urgent fighter takeoff) and MEDEVAC (medical evacuation) are permitted. Civilian drones are strictly prohibited from approaching the air defense identification zones of Ukraine and Belarus, and violation of the rules will be considered a violation of Polish aviation legislation.
