Poland resumes production of nitrocellulose and gunpowder necessary for the manufacture of large-caliber ammunition

Poland plans to resume the production of nitrocellulose and gunpowder, necessary for the production of large-caliber ammunition. The relevant agreement was concluded between the Industrial Development Agency, Grupa Azoty, Polska Grupa Zbrojeniowa and Mesko. About this reported Ministry of Defense of Poland.

Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of National Defense of Poland Władysław Kosiniak-Kamys emphasized that the development of the production of explosive materials is key to providing the country with its own ammunition. He also announced the construction of a new factory for the production of ammunition.

“Poland, as a large country, should be able to produce 155-mm projectiles on its own. We aim to create not one, but several factories, involving partners from NATO and the EU to coordinate efforts,” – said the minister.

Grupa Azoty, one of Europe’s leading chemical holdings, specializes in the production of nitrogen fertilizers, plasticizers, oxoalcohols and other chemical products. The main shareholder of the company is the state budget of Poland.

According to Kosiniak-Kamis, the government plans to allocate about 3 billion zlotys (almost 700 million euros) for the construction of the plant. They intend to start work in Tarnów in about a year.
