Poland tightens cybersecurity measures ahead of presidential elections

Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Digital Technologies Krzysztof Havkowski announced new measures to protect the electoral process from possible cyberattacks ahead of the presidential elections scheduled for May 18. About this informs Bloomberg.
Gavkovskyi said that the initiative called “electoral umbrella” is aimed at preventing external interference in the election process. Currently, the ministry actively cooperates with the election headquarters of the candidates and has already held meetings with representatives of large technology companies — Meta Platforms, Alphabet and Microsoft. These companies have tools to combat misinformation and combat so-called “troll farms.”
According to the minister, such “troll farms” may become more active on the eve of the elections, spreading fakes and misinformation due to the large number of fake accounts.
“Disinformation happens every day. This is exactly what we need to pay special attention to.” – emphasized Havkovskyi.
We will remind that in January, the Polish authorities warned about possible attempts to destabilize the elections, including recruiting people to spread false information. So far, Poland has not recorded foreign intervention in favor of any candidate, as was the case with Elon Musk in Germany, where the billionaire openly supported a far-right party.
