Poland will additionally provide Ukraine with 5 thousand Starlink terminals

The Polish government not only provides half of all Starlink satellite communication terminals operating in Ukraine, but also plans to significantly increase their number — 5,000 more devices have already been ordered. About this informs Puls Biznesu.

As of the end of 2024, Poland provided Ukraine with 24,400 Starlink terminals manufactured by Elon Musk’s SpaceX company. A new batch of devices was ordered in November, and they are gradually arriving in Ukraine.

Formally, Poland does not transfer these terminals to the ownership of Ukraine, but only lends them, although, most likely, they will not be returned. This approach was chosen to avoid legal and tax complications. Starlink terminals provide critical communication for the Ukrainian army at the front.

Not all devices work continuously — their number varies depending on the needs of the Ukrainian side, which decides when to turn them on or off. In addition, about 300 terminals were destroyed during the hostilities.

“For many months, Poland has been supplying the Internet to Ukrainian society and the Ukrainian army. Thanks to Starlink, tasks are being carried out that allow us to hold the front,” – noted Minister of Digitalization of Poland Krzysztof Hawkowski.
