Tensions on the Ukrainian-Polish border are growing again: Polish farmers are threatening a large-scale blockade of the Sheghini-Medyka checkpoint, which could paralyze freight traffic for several months.
State Border Service of Ukraine officially announcedand about the possibility of a blockade of the “Medyk” checkpoint from the Polish side, which may begin as early as June 9 at 10:00 a.m. and last until the end of September. Currently, it is not known which categories of vehicles will be blocked, but the DPSU promises to provide additional information later.
This is not the first attempt by Polish farmers to block the border with Ukraine. In 2023, they already held similar protests, blocking the movement of trucks at various checkpoints. The reason for farmers’ dissatisfaction is, in their opinion, excessive competition from Ukrainian agricultural producers after the liberalization of international transportation between Ukraine and the EU.
