In Khmelnytskyi region, a police captain died during the pursuit of an offender. This was reported by the National Police of Ukraine. Patrol officers stopped a driver who had been disqualified from driving by a court.
During the pursuit, he stopped in the village of Terlivka and ran into the territory of his own household. The police officers approached the gate and called the investigative and operational group. A few seconds later, an automatic queue sounded.
As a result of the shooting, the inspector of the patrol police response sector of police department No. 3 of the Khmelnytskyi district police department, Captain Serhiy Chornyi, died. His partner, Senior Lieutenant Vladyslav Sandetsky, returned fire from his service weapon, but also received a gunshot wound. He is currently in the hospital.
“The attacker fled the scene. He is being sought. Criminal proceedings have been opened under Art. 348 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine,” the police reported.
During an inspection of the scene in the yard of the house, an empty magazine for an automatic weapon and 5.45 caliber cartridges were found and seized.
