Production of agricultural products in Ukraine decreased by 8.4% over the year

The volume of production of agricultural products in Ukraine for January-August 2025 decreased by 8.4% compared to the same period last year, according to data from the State Statistics Service.

In crop production, the decline was 9.7%, and in livestock production – 4.9%, which led to the index of agricultural products at the level of 91.6% of last year’s indicator.

Agricultural enterprises suffered greater losses – production was 90.4% of the previous year’s level, while the index was 93.7% in households. The most significant drop was recorded in Donetsk region, where the volume of production is only 53.6% of last year’s, as well as in Kherson (72.2%), Dnipropetrovsk (78.5%) and Poltava regions (79.0%).

At the same time, some regions show positive dynamics: in Lviv region, production increased to 102%, and in Ivano-Frankivsk – to 100.6%. As of September 19, the harvest was threshed from almost 7.1 million hectares, which is more than 62% of the area under grain and leguminous crops, and 29.77 million tons of grain were threshed.

For comparison, last year, as of September 20, farmers harvested more than 44.5 million tons of grain and oil crops, including wheat – almost 22.3 million tons, barley – 5.5 million tons, peas – 465 thousand tons, rapeseed – 3.4 million tons, sunflower – 4.9 million tons, and soybeans – 2.6 million tons.

Registrations of agricultural companies in the second quarter of 2025 remained almost at the level of last year (490 against 496), while the registration of new individual entrepreneurs in the agricultural sector increased by 52% (1.5 thousand against 934).
