“Russia is open to dialogue with the Trump administration regarding the Ukrainian conflict. The goal of the Ukrainian settlement should not be a short truce, but a long-term peace. Peace in Ukraine must be based on respect for the legitimate interests of the people living in this region.” Putin said.
He also emphasized that Russia was always ready for dialogue with any US administration. According to Putin, Moscow pays attention to the statements of Trump and his team regarding the desire to resume direct contacts.
“The Russian Federation assumes that the dialogue with the USA will be built on an equal and mutually respectful basis.” – emphasized the Russian leader.
He added that the Russian authorities will continue to defend the interests of their people, because, according to him, this is the main goal of their policy.
“Moscow welcomes Trump’s mood and his words about the need to do everything to prevent the third world war”, Putin concluded.
