Requirements for students planning to go abroad
The situation with mobilization in Ukraine is complex and multifaceted, and one of the most discussed topics is the mobilization of students. This issue raises many questions, because it affects a significant part of young people who plan to continue their education both in Ukraine and abroad. Constant changes in legislation concerning the mobilization of students cause not only interest, but also some misunderstanding. Let’s consider what requirements are placed on students planning to go abroad, and what conditions they must fulfill in order to get such an opportunity.
Requirements for students planning to go abroad
The mobilization of students in Ukraine undergoes constant changes, which are reflected in the relevant legislative acts. Despite this, students studying at Ukrainian universities may have the opportunity to go abroad, but only if certain requirements are met. These requirements are specified in the Law on Amendments to Certain Legislative Acts of Ukraine on Certain Issues of Military Service, Mobilization, and Military Registration.
In order for a student to have the right to travel abroad, he must meet the following conditions:
- Be between the ages of 18 and 22.
- Not subject to mobilization.
- To be a participant in the academic mobility program, the duration of which is one semester.
- To study full-time at a higher educational institution (university).
- Obtain a bachelor’s degree in any specialty or a master’s degree in a medical, pharmaceutical or veterinary field.
Required documents for departure
In addition to fulfilling the above requirements, students must have a number of documents with them that confirm their right to leave:
- Electronic student card.
- A certified copy of the agreement with a foreign university on admission to the academic mobility program.
- Reference from the territorial procurement center (TCC).
- A certificate from the educational institution confirming the student’s referral to study abroad as part of the academic mobility program.
The certificate from the educational institution, which should contain the following details, requires special attention:
- Duration of study.
- Grounds for cooperation with a foreign university.
- The absence of negative grades and the fact of passing all exams.
- The level of knowledge of a foreign language is documented.
The possibility of mobilizing students
The legislation of Ukraine also provides certain conditions for the mobilization of students. Thus, students who obtain their first higher education on a full-time or dual form of education may be exempted from the obligation to undergo military service. However, this does not mean that all students are automatically deferred from the draft. There are categories of students who may be mobilized if they do not meet certain criteria or are not eligible for deferment.
After all, it is important for students who plan to go abroad to know all the requirements and have all the necessary documents. This will allow them to avoid problems when crossing the border and ensure unhindered access to education in foreign higher education institutions.
