Ruslan Stefanchuk announced the return of broadcasts of Verkhovna Rada meetings
The Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada, Ruslan Stefanchuk, said that live broadcasts of parliamentary sessions will resume in September. About this informs people’s deputy Oleksiy Honcharenko.
According to Honcharenko, he asked the speaker why broadcasts of the work of the Verkhovna Rada have not yet been resumed.
“Stefanchuk stated that there should be a resolution to return the broadcasting of the Rada from the beginning of the new session – from September”, – said the deputy.
As Goncharenko noted, Yaroslav Yurchyshyn, head of the Verkhovna Rada Committee on Freedom of Speech, explained that the document on the return of broadcasts has already been prepared and is being agreed with the majority.
It will be recalled that after the start of a full-scale war in February 2022, the parliament stopped live broadcasts of plenary sessions for security reasons. Journalists also do not have access to the session hall.
At the same time, Goncharenko conducts his own broadcasts in low quality through YouTube, and several other deputies inform about the adopted decisions on social networks. Official notices on the website of the Verkhovna Rada are published very late.
The only exception was the July 31 vote for restoring the independence of NABU and SAP. Then the meeting was shown live. A week before, the Verkhovna Rada passed draft law No. 12414, which abolished the independence of anti-corruption bodies, and President Volodymyr Zelenskyi immediately signed it. Under pressure from the public and the EU, the authorities changed their decision and demonstrated the adoption of the new law live.
