Russia attacks energy: consumers in three western regions almost completely without electricity
On the morning of December 23, most consumers in the Rivne, Ternopil, and Khmelnytsky regions were left without electricity due to a massive attack on Ukraine’s energy facilities. As Acting Minister of Energy Artem Nekrasov reported, large-scale power outages also affected Vinnytsia, Chernihiv, Zhytomyr, Donetsk, Dnipropetrovsk, and Kharkiv regions.
The Ministry of Energy clarified that the enemy has carried out the ninth massive attack on the Ukrainian energy system since the beginning of the year. Work is underway in the Odessa region to eliminate the consequences of several consecutive strikes, but a significant part of consumers still remains without electricity. Due to the missile and drone attack, emergency power outage schedules have been applied throughout the country.
“Emergency power outages will be canceled immediately after the situation in the energy system stabilizes”, – the Ministry of Energy noted.
Rescuers and energy workers are ready to begin restoration work as soon as the security situation allows. As the department emphasized, the target of the Russian attack – is Ukraine’s energy infrastructure, which explains the need to introduce emergency power outages in a number of regions.
