Russia blocks UN resolution on nuclear weapons in space

On April 24, Russia vetoed a United States-drafted UN Security Council resolution aimed at preventing an arms race in space.
About this informs Reuters.
The draft resolution, which was supported by 13 countries, called on states to “actively contribute to the achievement of the goal of the peaceful use of outer space and the prevention of an arms race in it.” China abstained, and Russia used the right of veto.
“Today’s veto by Russia raises serious questions,” said US Ambassador to the UN Linda Thomas-Greenfield.
Russia’s ambassador to the UN, Vasyl Nebenzia, accused the US of trying to smear Moscow and said that Russia will soon start negotiations with other members of the Security Council on its own draft resolution aimed at preserving peace in space.
