Russia conducts strategic nuclear force training
Russia announced the holding of strategic nuclear forces training involving ground, naval and aviation units. According to the Kremlin press service, Russian President Vladimir Putin observed the training via video link.
During the training, the readiness of military command and control bodies was allegedly checked and intercontinental ballistic missiles and cruise missiles were launched. The Kremlin did not disclose the exact date of the training.
In particular, in the Barents Sea, a ballistic missile “Syneva” was launched from the strategic nuclear missile submarine “Bryansk”. The “Yars” missile systems and Tu-95MS long-range aircraft were also used in the training. The Kremlin stated that all the tasks were successfully completed.
The RS-24 “Yars” missile is a three-stage solid-fuel intercontinental ballistic missile capable of carrying a nuclear warhead and covering a distance of more than 10 thousand kilometers. This type of missile is the main one in the Russian strategic nuclear forces.
Recall that in May 2025, the Main Intelligence Directorate of Ukraine reported that Russia was preparing for a demonstrative launch of an intercontinental ballistic missile, with the aim of intimidating Ukraine, as well as EU and NATO countries.
