The Pentagon has launched an investigation and will test its employees on a polygraph after Elon Musk’s statements

The US Department of Defense has launched an internal investigation and plans to conduct a polygraph examination of its employees to determine the source of the leak of information to journalists. By data the Bloomberg agency, the reason for such a decision was a wave of indignation after Elon Musk publicly called for prosecution of Pentagon employees for the dissemination of unreliable data.

Earlier, The New York Times, with reference to several anonymous US officials, published a story about Elon Musk’s alleged acquaintance with Washington’s confidential military plans for China. According to journalists, these data could reveal important secret information related to the defense strategies of the Pentagon.

After these statements appeared, US President Donald Trump issued a sharp criticism on his social network Truth Social. He stated that the widespread information is fiction, stressing:

“They have brazenly made up a story that Elon Musk is supposed to be at the Pentagon tomorrow to be briefed on a possible ‘war with China’. Absurd! China won’t even be mentioned or discussed.”

Elon Musk himself also reacted to the accusations. On his page in the X social network, he said that he is waiting for judicial punishment for all those involved in the dissemination of false information in the Pentagon, which became the source of the leak to The New York Times.

In response to the outcry that gained momentum in the media, the chief of staff of the US Secretary of Defense, Joe Casper, issued an official statement. He insisted on the need to investigate the fact of “unauthorized disclosure” of information related to the country’s national security. Joe Casper stated that those responsible should be identified and handed over to law enforcement agencies for prosecution.
