Russia is preparing a “final maneuver” in Pokrovsk to capture the entire Donetsk region: Syrsky
In the Pokrovsk area, Russian units are conducting a large-scale offensive operation, concentrating large forces to create an advantage and break through the Ukrainian defense. The Russian Federation’s goal is to carry out a “last maneuver” to capture the entire Donetsk region. This was reported by the Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, Oleksandr Syrsky, to The New York Post.
According to the commander-in-chief, the enemy has concentrated most of its forces with the intention of gaining an advantage and breaking through our defense line to capture this area:
“The situation on the front line is really tense, the enemy is conducting a strategic offensive operation. They have gathered the bulk of their forces, creating an advantage in trying to break through our defense line and capture this area”.
Syrsky refuted Russian propaganda narratives about the fall of Pokrovsk and the encirclement of Ukrainian units. After the September counterattack, which, according to him, led to significant losses among the occupiers and allowed Ukrainian forces to clear more than 165 square miles, the picture is rather the opposite.
“They continue to show this area on their maps as if it were under their control. But this claim – that the enemy has captured almost everything, and they are about to finish it off – does not correspond to reality”, — the commander-in-chief added.
According to him, out of approximately 700,000 Russian servicemen present on the territory of Ukraine, about 150,000 have been sent to Pokrovsk, and large mechanized groups and four marine brigades have been involved in the offensive.
Moscow’s goal, according to Syrsky, is to surround Pokrovsk and the surrounding cities from several sides, cut off supply lines and force the civilian population to evacuate, in order to then carry out a “final maneuver” with the aim of capturing the entire Donetsk region.
The defense forces, according to him, are trying to inflict maximum losses on the enemy:
“Our task– is to make sure that the level of mobilization of people is equal to or less than the number of losses they suffer. They have been conducting these active assault operations for two months without any material success”.
Syrsky also emphasized that Ukrainian units seek to destroy enemy “sites from which drones are launched and command centers”, which requires high-quality intelligence and high-precision long-range ammunition.
“Our artillery is forced to attack far in the rear at greater distances, so the importance of missiles is increasing”, he noted, and called on partners to provide Ukraine with missiles, air defense systems, and electronic warfare to protect against drone and missile strikes on critical infrastructure – power plants, bridges, and factories.
