Russia sends African students to war in Kharkiv region: Bloomberg

Russian officials implemented a tactic first used by the private military company Wagner, threatening to deport Africans if they did not sign a contract with the Russian army.
About this informs Bloomberg.
According to European officials, the Kremlin forced thousands of migrants and foreign students to fight in the Russian army against Ukraine, recruiting additional forces for the offensive in the Kharkiv region.
Russian officials are increasingly threatening not to extend visas to African students and young workers if they do not agree to join the army. According to officials, some Africans who are in the Russian Federation on work visas have been detained and forced to choose between deportation or combat. Some of these people managed to bribe officials to stay in the country and avoid military service.
This practice arose at the beginning of the war, when the Russian Federation began to forcibly send migrants and students into battle. Such troops suffer particularly high losses because they are often used in risky offensive maneuvers to protect more trained units.
Russia is also running a global campaign to recruit foreign mercenaries in at least 21 countries, including several in Africa.
Despite these measures, Russian troops are advancing very slowly in northeastern Ukraine and are suffering significant losses, despite the lack of troops and ammunition on the Ukrainian side.
