Armenia approved a draft law on the start of the process of the country’s accession to the EU

On January 9, the Armenian government approved the draft law on the start of the process of the country’s accession to the European Union. The issue was presented to the government by the Minister of Foreign Affairs Ararat Mirzoyan, informs NEWS.am.

“The draft law on the beginning of the process of Armenia’s membership in the EU was submitted to the National Assembly for discussion as a citizens’ initiative, and now the government must express its position”, – noted Mirzoyan.

According to him, “in recent years, relations between Armenia and the European Union have been quite active and dynamic.”

“They had a rich content and covered various areas. The EU on various occasions expressed clear political support for democracy in Armenia. The EU actually joined the organization of the security environment around Armenia. I mean the deployment of the EU’s civilian monitoring mission.”, – added the minister.

Earlier, the European Union declared its readiness to contribute to strengthening the economic stability of Armenia.
