Russia withdrew all troops from Belarus after the end of the “Zapad-2025”
Russia withdrew its troops from Belarus after the “Zapad-2025” exercises, and military formations did not remain on the border with Ukraine. This was reported by Andriy Demchenko, the spokesman of the State Border Service of Ukraine, during the briefing.
“The Russian forces on the territory of Belarus, which participated in joint exercises, after the end of the active phase on September 16, formed columns in order to move towards Russia. As of now, we can note that such a movement took place, and they did not remain on the territory of Belarus, Demchenko said.
According to him, during the exercises and after them, no hostile activity was recorded in the direction of the Ukrainian border, in its immediate vicinity. All training locations “ Zapad-2025” were located inside Belarusian territory. At the same time, the military made sure that Belarus did not try to create provocations against Ukraine.
“We actively monitored border groups, intelligence units, the Ministry of Defense, the State Border Service in order to clearly understand how the situation in Belarus is developing. Will they try to create some provocations in the direction of our border, Demchenko noted.
He added that the number of Russian forces involved in the exercises was much smaller compared to previous years. According to him, the contingent that arrived for this year’s exercises is significantly smaller than in 2023, when approximately 10,000-12,000 Russian troops were stationed in Belarus.
