Russian company “Lukoil” plans to sell its assets abroad due to sanctions
Russian oil company “Lukoil” has announced its intention to sell its foreign assets due to sanctions imposed against it by Western countries. This was reported by the company’s press service.
“Due to the introduction of restrictive measures against the company and its subsidiaries by some states, the company announces its intention to sell its international assets”, – the statement says.
The message notes that the acceptance of offers from potential buyers has already begun. “Lukoil” specified that the sale of assets will take place within the framework of a license issued by the Office of Foreign Assets Control (OFAC) of the US Treasury Department. In addition, the company plans to apply for an extension of this license to ensure the uninterrupted operation of international assets until the transactions are completed.
As a reminder, on October 23, US President Donald Trump announced the introduction of sanctions against “Lukoil” and “Rosneft”, as well as their subsidiaries. Earlier, similar restrictions were introduced by the United Kingdom. After that, “Lukoil” shares on the Moscow Exchange fell sharply – in two days they lost 7.2% of their value, which is approximately 297 billion rubles, or about 3.66 billion dollars.
