On April 21, in Odessa, the Security Service of Ukraine conducted a special operation to detain employees of one of the district territorial recruitment and social support centers. The officials were caught receiving illegal benefits.
The detention on Balkivska Street was accompanied by pursuit and the use of firearms. One of the suspects tried to flee the scene, but was later detained near the local radio market. The operation involved soldiers from the KORD special unit and representatives of the internal security unit of the Security Service of Ukraine.
According to available information, the basis for the investigative actions was a statement from a citizen who was extorted money. During the searches, significant amounts of money were found on the detainees, as well as prohibited items, including batons and brass knuckles. In addition, on the eve of the incident, a conflict was recorded on Mykhailivska Square involving representatives of the territorial recruitment center, who were traveling in minibuses.
The press service of the Odessa Regional Territorial Recruitment and Social Support Center officially confirmed the fact of conducting investigative actions against its employees. Currently, the collection of evidence is underway to bring all involved persons to justice in accordance with current legislation.
Law enforcement agencies continue to establish the full range of persons who may be involved in the corruption scheme. The situation is under the control of the leadership of the relevant structural units.
