Scientists have created the first AI-powered vaccine that should work against all types of coronavirus

Researchers at the University of Cambridge have used artificial intelligence to develop a vaccine that should work against all types of coronavirus. Scientists are also working on creating new drugs against Ebola and influenza. This is reported by the BBC.

According to the researchers, this is the first time that a key element of a vaccine has been designed entirely using artificial intelligence and has already been tested on humans. Instead of using one specific strain of the virus, scientists used several known genetic codes from open programs for monitoring viral threats.

After that, artificial intelligence processed the collected data and created a “superantigen” that, according to scientists, can counteract viruses. According to the media, the antigen developed using AI allows the human immune system to protect the body against all types of coronavirus, even if it mutates.

“This is a fundamental shift in how we prepare for pandemics. “It’s about creating vaccines that protect us not just from today’s viruses, but also from what could cause the next outbreak or disease,” said lead researcher Professor Jonathan Heaney.

The scientists said 39 people had taken part in the antigen study. The second trial, which is planned to involve about 200 participants, should help better assess how effectively the vaccine trains the immune system, the university said.
