Google launches Doppl app for virtual clothes fitting (video)
Google Company announced about the launch of Doppl, an experimental mobile app that allows users to visualize how their chosen outfit will look directly on them. The app is currently available for iOS and Android in the US.
To use Doppl, a user needs to upload a full-length photo of themselves, after which they can select an image of any outfit — from a store’s website or social media, for example — and see how it will look on their digital model. In addition, the application is able to create videos with motion simulation to better convey how the fabric behaves during wear.
Doppl also provides the ability to save created images and share them with others. As Google explained, the launch of a separate application is aimed at making virtual fitting more convenient for users and at the same time getting more data about its effectiveness. Unlike the company’s previous solutions, where clothes were demonstrated on standard models, Doppl individualizes the process — images are generated taking into account the figure of the user himself.
Google emphasizes that the application is still in test mode, so the results of the fitting may be inaccurate. Currently, it is not known whether it is planned to expand its availability to other countries.
“We hope Doppl helps you explore your style in new and exciting ways. As a Google Labs experiment, Doppl is in its early stages of development, and it may not always get things right. Fit, appearance and clothing details may not always be accurate.”, the company explained.
