Shevchenko University in Kyiv imposes a ban on the use of Telegram
Starting from 11 November, Taras Shevchenko National University of Kyiv imposes a ban on the use of Telegram messenger for official purposes, as confirmed by the relevant order signed by the rector.

This information was confirmed by the university’s communications centre by a representative of the Institute of Mass Information, Valentyna Troian. The university’s telegram channel also posted a poll among users about choosing an alternative platform for further communication.
In addition, according to the Real Kyiv telegram channel, access to Telegram via Wi-Fi has already been restricted in university dormitories. This information was also confirmed on the university’s official Facebook page.
Earlier, Yuriy Fedkovych Chernivtsi National University received a letter from the Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine (MES) recommending that the use of Telegram be immediately restricted.
On 19 September 2024, the National Coordination Centre for Cybersecurity also proposed to restrict the use of Telegram in government agencies, military structures and critical infrastructure facilities. Andriy Kovalenko, head of the National Security and Defence Council’s Disinformation Counteraction Centre, clarified that this ban applies only to official devices.
The NSDC stressed that the decision is advisory and applies only to official duties. On 3 October, the head of the National Council on Television and Radio Broadcasting, Olga Gerasymiuk, announced a ban on the use of Telegram on the work devices of the National Council’s employees.
The Verkhovna Rada also restricted the use of Telegram on work devices for its staff, while allowing them to use the messenger for private purposes.
