Shooting in Montenegro: 12 people killed, suspect committed suicide

In the city of Cetinje, in Montenegro, as a result of a shooting in one of the bars, at least 12 people died, including two teenagers. Four people were injured and are in hospital. About this informs News.

According to eyewitnesses, the tragedy was preceded by a conflict in the bar, which turned into a fight. The man left the facility, but later returned with a gun and opened fire. The attacker was identified as Atso Martynovych, who was known for his erratic behavior. He was previously arrested for possession of weapons. After the attack in the bar, Martynovych went to another location, where he killed the bar owner’s children and his wife.

The police surrounded Martynovych in the Khumtsi district. Realizing that it was impossible to avoid detention, he shot himself in the head. Police director Lazar Shchepanovych said that they tried to take the attacker to the Clinical Center of Montenegro, but he died on the way to the hospital.

“He was surrounded, a ring was created. He was in a hopeless situation, surrounded from all sides, and after being ordered to surrender his weapon, he shot himself in the head. After receiving injuries, they tried to transport him to KCCG, but he died on the way.” Shchepanovych said.

The Montenegrin government called on the city’s residents to remain calm and stay at home. In connection with the tragedy, the Prime Minister of the country, Milojko Spajic, announced three days of mourning, calling the event terrible and painful for the entire society. He did not specify the number of victims.
