Shostka in Sumy region was left without heating after Russian shelling
In the city of Shostka, Sumy Oblast, work is underway to restore critical infrastructure that was damaged by the morning shelling. Heat is expected to be restored by the end of the day. This was announced by the Deputy Minister of Development of Communities and Territories of Ukraine, Timur Tkachenko, on the broadcast of the nationwide marathon.
“After the night shelling, part of the city of Shostka remains without heat supply. Restoration work continues, during the day the heat will return. There are also 83 stationary Points of Invincibility in Shostka“, Tkachenko noted.
He also reported that as of November 13, the situation with heat supply in Ukraine remains stable and under control: 99.2% of boiler plants have been put into operation.
In order to quickly respond to minor damage, most of the thermal utility companies have a stock of spare equipment and materials, which allows for prompt restoration of heat supply.
“The most difficult situation is, of course, in the front-line territories, so we made every effort to provide these territories with reserve equipment. Work is currently underway to create a support plan for prompt response to damage to the power system and heat supply“, Tkachenko added.
Earlier it was reported that the Russian military shelled the border communities of the Sumy region 16 times during the night and morning of November 13, as a result of which 33 explosions were recorded. Five Geran-2 drone strikes were carried out in Shostkinsk community, which resulted in damage to critical infrastructure facilities.
