Biden and Starmer still undecided on Storm Shadow strikes on Russia: Politico

US President Joe Biden and British Prime Minister Keir Starmer during a meeting at the White House discussed Ukraine’s request to support the use of long-range missiles in the war against Russia. As informs According to Politico, the leaders did not agree on allowing Kiev to use Storm Shadow missiles to strike military targets in Russia.
Asked by journalists about Putin’s statement that strikes against Russia could put NATO “in a state of war” with the Russian Federation, Biden answered: “I don’t think much about Vladimir Putin”.
After the meeting, Starmer said a final decision on the Storm Shadow missiles had yet to be made, but made it clear the issue could be discussed at the UN General Assembly later this month.
“Obviously, we will return to this issue at the UN General Assembly in a few days with a wider range of people.”, he said.
Starmer also emphasized that the meeting was not focused on “specific forces and means,” but added “We took a strong position”.
He rejected suggestions that his focus on Ukraine is related to preparations for the upcoming US presidential election, particularly against the backdrop of a possible victory for Donald Trump, who previously called Putin a “genius”.
Previously, Starmer did not rule out the possibility of granting Ukraine permission to use Storm Shadow missiles, despite threats from Putin. The Prime Minister of Great Britain said: “Russia started this conflict. Russia illegally invaded Ukraine. Russia can end this conflict immediately”.
