Spain will allocate €1.129 billion in military aid to Ukraine

During the visit of Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyi to Madrid on May 27, Spain will announce the allocation of the largest military aid package to Ukraine in its history, the amount of which will reach 1.129 billion euros.

About this informs newspaper El Pais with reference to sources.

It is noted that the aid package will include about 10 Patriot anti-aircraft missiles, 19 Leopard 2A4 tanks, anti-drone equipment, artillery ammunition and portable rocket launchers.

The cost of the package was approved by the Spanish government last month, but its contents were kept secret. During a meeting with Spanish Prime Minister Pedro Sánchez, Zelensky is expected to sign a bilateral security agreement that includes multimillion-dollar contracts for the Spanish defense industry.

Previously, Zelensky’s visit to Madrid was planned for May 17, but was postponed due to the Russian offensive in the north of the Kharkiv region. On May 26, the Spanish government confirmed that the visit would take place. In addition to Sanchez, Zelensky will also meet with the King of Spain, Felipe VI.
