Sullivan condemned the forced deportation of hundreds of thousands of Ukrainians, including children, to Russia

National Security Adviser to the President Jake Sullivan condemned the forced deportation to Russia of hundreds of thousands of Ukrainian citizens, including children separated from their families.
In a statement released by the White House, it is noted that since the beginning of the full-scale invasion of Ukraine, the Russian military and other officials of the Russian Federation have deported hundreds of thousands of Ukrainian citizens to Russia, including children.
Sullivan said that the United States has new reliable information that the Russian authorities are posting lists of kidnapped Ukrainian children on Russian adoption websites.
“This is disgusting and terrible. These Ukrainian children should be with their families in Ukraine. Russia is waging war not only against the Ukrainian military, but also against the Ukrainian people. As the president has already said, Russia is committing war crimes and crimes against humanity in Ukraine . We will continue to support the Ukrainian people, helping them to defend themselves against the barbaric aggressive war unleashed by Russia.”, – emphasized Sullivan.
Kyiv estimates that approximately 20,000 Ukrainian children were forcibly deported.
In March, the Prosecutor General of Ukraine, Andriy Kostin, welcomed the US joining the International Coalition for the Return of Ukrainian Children Deported by Russia, stressing that this is a very important step.
“The deportation of Ukrainian children by the Russian Federation is one of the elements of the policy of genocide. In February of this year, the UN Committee on the Rights of the Child called on Russia to stop the forcible deportation of children from Ukraine, to provide information about those who have already been deported, and to ensure their return home.” Kostin said.
We will remind you that in March 2023, the International Criminal Court (ICC) issued a warrant for Putin’s arrest on the charge of a war crime – the illegal deportation of Ukrainian children. Similar charges were brought by the ICC against Maria Lvova-Belova, the Russian President’s Commissioner for Children’s Rights.
