On January 16, Prime Minister of Great Britain Keir Starmer and President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyi will sign a historic agreement on a 100-year partnership in Kyiv. About this informs British government website.
“Unbreakable ties between the UK and Ukraine will be formalized through a landmark new 100-year partnership between the two countries, which will broaden and deepen defense and non-military relations and provide closer community-to-community ties.”, says the message.
This document is aimed at strengthening military cooperation, joint production of weapons, as well as the development of scientific and technical partnerships in the fields of health care, education, agricultural technologies and space. The agreement, together with the political declaration, which form the basis of the 100-year partnership, will be presented to the parliament in the near future.
Among the key provisions of the agreement are cooperation in the field of maritime security in the Baltic, Black and Azov seas, as well as strengthening the status of Great Britain as the main partner of Ukraine in the energy sector, mining and production of environmentally friendly steel. In addition, within the framework of the partnership, it is planned to introduce a mechanism for tracking grain stolen by the Russian occupiers from Ukrainian territories.
It is expected that in honor of the signing of the agreement, Keir Starmer will announce a new package of aid to Ukraine aimed at combating Russian aggression. Aid will include both military and financial support.
