Syrsky disbanded the Dnipro OSUV commanded by Drapaty

The Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces Oleksandr Syrsky decided to disband the operational-strategic grouping of the Dnipro troops, which was headed by Major General Mykhailo Drapaty.

Operational and strategic grouping of troops “ Dnipro” (formerly “Khortytsia”), which was led by Major General Mykhailo Drapaty, stopped working in connection with the implementation of the corps reform. This was reported by the spokesman of the General Staff of the Ukrainian Armed Forces, Major Andrii Kovalev.

“OSUV “Dnipro” was not a full-time structure, but a temporary one. In connection with the acceptance by the corps of their lines of responsibility and with the aim of improving the management of the troops, the need for the existence of operational-strategic groups disappeared. That is why OSUV “Dnipro” ceased to exist, explained Andriy Kovalev.

Mykhailo Drapaty will retain the post of commander of the United Forces and, together with his team, will move to the northeast, where he will lead one of the troop groups. At the same time, his area of responsibility will be reduced by approximately half.

We will remind you that on June 1, Drapaty announced that he submitted his resignation from the position of commander of the Ground Forces after a Russian missile attack on the location of one of the training units of the Armed Forces. On June 3, the President of Ukraine, Volodymyr Zelenskyi, dismissed him from this position and appointed him commander of the Joint Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine. According to the president, Drapaty should “focus exclusively on combat issues and deal with the front 100%”.
