EU and the world

The average age of the Ukrainian military is 43-45 years, there is a problem with the mobilization of youth: Bloomberg

For data Bloomberg, the average age of Ukrainian servicemen is about 43-45 years old, which indicates the difficulty of attracting young people to the ranks of the Armed Forces. Although the latest package of military aid from the US has eased the situation at the front, the shortage of personnel remains an acute problem.

Reasons for difficulties with youth mobilization:

  • Many young people have fled their homes due to hostilities and are difficult to trace for mobilization.
  • Mothers who left Ukraine with their teenage sons often do not return them after reaching conscription age.
  • The recent lowering of the conscription age from 27 to 25 may also affect the motivation of young people to serve.

Measures to solve the problem:

  • The government calls on all conscripts to update their data for more effective mobilization.
  • Launching of the military conscript’s electronic cabinet: The new service facilitates the process of updating data and interacting with the TCC.
  • Testing of the electronic queue for TCC: this service should simplify the recruitment procedure and reduce queues.
