In the US, a man with a flamethrower attacked a Jewish community rally: at least 8 people were injured
In the American city of Boulder, a man armed with a flamethrower and bottles with flammable mixture attacked a Jewish community rally in support of the Israeli hostages in the Gaza Strip. As a result of the attack, at least 8 people were injured. About this informs CNN.
The attacker shouted “Free Palestine!” during the attack. As a result, at least eight people aged from 52 to 88 were injured, one of the victims is in serious condition. Boulder Police Chief Stephen Redfern said the suspect was arrested at the scene.
According to eyewitnesses, people immediately rushed to help the victims, pouring water on them to reduce the effects of burns. One of the local businessmen said that after hearing the screams and seeing the flames, he ran out into the street together with the store employee.
“People were lying on the ground, and others were running with buckets and bottles, carrying water – whoever could do what.” he said.
One of the witnesses also said that the injured woman was completely covered in burns, from her hair to her heels. The FBI has identified the suspect as Mohamed Sabri Soliman. He has been charged with several felonies. Soliman applied for asylum in the United States in 2005, but was denied a visa. Currently, it is not known exactly when and under what circumstances he got to the United States.
Colorado State Attorney General Phil Weiser said that the incident was classified as a hate crime. FBI Director Kash Patel, in turn, called the attack a “deliberate act of terrorism.”
