Prime Minister of Great Britain Keir Starmer said that any peace initiatives regarding the settlement of the war in Ukraine must be coordinated with the United States of America. He made a corresponding statement during press conference, emphasizing that joint action with Washington is a prerequisite for the implementation of any peace plan.
“My position on the US has not changed. I’ve made it very clear that this needs to be done with the United States. I think you know we talk to the US every day. So the position on the need to do this with the United States has not changed, and that’s why we’re having these detailed discussions that we’re having.” Starmer said.
He also added that US President Donald Trump is fully committed to achieving lasting peace, which Ukraine needs, and all his actions are aimed at achieving this goal. According to the prime minister, the strategic partnership between Great Britain and the United States remains extremely close and is one of the most important alliances. This partnership, according to Starmer, has been strong for decades and will continue to be so in the future.
It will be recalled that earlier at the virtual summit of the “coalition of the willing” an agreement was reached to speed up work on supporting a possible peace agreement. During the event, Starmer expressed his belief that sooner or later Russian President Vladimir Putin will be forced to sit down at the negotiating table.
