BMW is recalling more than 2 million vehicles in the US and China due to technical faults

German automaker BMW has announced a massive recall of 720,000 vehicles in the US and 1.36 million in China due to potential water pump problems that could lead to short circuits. About this informs Reuters with reference to the statement of the US National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA).

According to NHTSA, the defect is related to improper sealing of the electrical connector on the water pump, which may be exposed to water. This creates the risk of a short circuit, which can cause the engine to stop or even catch fire. The recall covers several popular BMW models, including the X1 and X5 crossovers, as well as the BMW 5 sedans.

BMW dealers will carry out a free inspection and replacement of the water pump and connector, as well as fit an additional guard in all vehicles affected by the recall. This process aims to ensure the safety of drivers and avoid possible emergency situations.

BMW has already received 18 complaints and reports of problems with the water pump in the field, but fortunately, no accidents or injuries related to this defect have been recorded. The company is actively working on solving this problem to ensure the safety of its customers.
